SFD Responds to MVA with Entrapment on Rt. 135
On Monday, November 12th at 0532 hours, the Seaford Fire Department responded to a one car auto accident on the southbound Seaford-Oyster Bay expressway at the westbound exit to Sunrise Hwy. The car overturned while attempting to exit the expressway and struck the bridge abutment for the LIRR. The SFD responded with two ambulances (684 and 685), the Medic Fly-Car (6899), one heavy rescue (687), one engine (681) and two Chiefs (6800 and 6802). The lone occupant was pinned in the car and needed to be extricated. The crew of 687 (Ex-Chief/Capt Meyer, Lt. Kern, Ex-Chief S. Bellissimo, Ex-Chief Feil, Ex-Capt M. Bellissimo and Ex-Lt. Morreale) worked with NCPD ESU to remove the roof to gain access to the patient while the crew of 681 stretched a precautionary handline. After the patient was extricated, he was transported to NUMC by NCPD ambulance 2367.
