Truck Company Training
Members of the Seaford Fire Department recently conducted ground ladder training at the 3 Towns Training Center in Massapequa. The class was taught by Captain Cottone and Lieutenant Kern. Members practiced ground ladder selection and placement as well as climbing techniques. The finer points of using a ground ladder to make entry and egress from a window and venting a window via a ground ladder were also taught and practiced.
The 3 Towns Training Center is located at the end of Brooklyn Ave. in Massapequa just north of the LIRR tracks. The facility is a joint operation by the Seaford, Massapequa and North Massapequa Fire Departments. The facility includes a 2 ½ story training tower as well as a live burn/flashover simulator. The training center has been in operation since the Spring of 2008 and has proven itself invaluable in the continual training the members of the Seaford Fire Department.
