SFD Donates Retired Ambulance to Veterans
The Seaford Fire Department donated their retired ambulance, 685, to the Northport VA Hospital on Wednesday, January 9, 2008. The ambulance was retired from service after a 2007 Horton ambulance was put into service by the Seaford Fire District. The VA will use the ambulance to transport patients from the four nursing homes at the VA to and from the main hospital building located on the sprawling base. The VA was using a 1982 Ford van-type ambulance for the transports. Representatives from the VA and the Disabled Veterans of America (DAV) were on hand to except the ambulance with heart-felt appreciation. The volunteer members of the SFD are very proud that the ambulance that has served Seaford so well for 15 years will be used to help the brave men and women who have defended America.
